An Evening in the Round with Brad Parsons, Barb Carbon, and Taylor Martin
— —
An intimate evening in the round with Barb Carbon, Taylor Martin & Brad Parsons at Eddie's Attic
Barb Carbon is a folk/roots-rock musical artist from Georgia, USA. She performs as a solo act, as well as with her musical partner, Arrie Bozeman, in the band The Ain’t Sisters. Carbon’s influences are rooted in the beautifully raw, gritty sounds of Shovels and Rope, The Avett Brothers, and Lucinda Williams, and the earnest, inspired songwriting of Patty Griffin, The Indigo Girls, and Brandi Carlile, among others.
Barb makes music that is as accessible as it is personal. A masterful poet, Carbon is able to strip away the layers of her own experience, exposing the nerve and laying her finger on the emotional essence of our shared struggles and hopes.
Boldy exploring genres, she delivers her art dressed with a punk rock edge, an alt-country drawl, or the trappings of kick drum-driven Americana, but at the core of her diverse catalogue beats the heart of folk music, which has always existed for the same reason - to tell our truth.
Carbon has two forthcoming albums. Marrow, the debut release from The Ain’t Sisters arrives in Atlanta November 23, 2018 and world-wide January 11, 2019, while her solo debut, The Fighter, is due out in late spring 2019.
Taylor Martin brings you music with a beating heart; his raspy, emotio voice is instantly recognizable and his lyrics have an unflinching sincerity. Martin releases his third album, Song Dogs November 16, 2018 on Little King Records. On it, he spins tales of the highway, homes, lost love, love regained, redemption, and the overuse of cell phones. The Honeycutters’ Amanda Anne Platt took the lead as Music Producer (along with adding harmony vocals on a handful of songs) with the help of Co-Producer and Engineer, Robert George, and Martin’s visions for the album. The album was recorded at Sound Temple Studios in Asheville, North Carolina.
“Taylor Martin is a killer songwriter,” declares Platt. “He's got a great sense of melody and an ability to write classic, accessible songs about things we all take for granted. It's also to his credit that he hits all sides of the spectrum-- there are toe tappers and tear jerkers on this album and everything in between. I'm a big fan of the saying, ‘Great songs produce themselves,’ I certainly found that to be true in working with Taylor.”
A resident of Asheville, North Carolina since 2004, Martin has been creating music since 1994. He blends musical styles: the approach to music he grew up with in Richmond, Virginia; the western spirit he experienced living five years in Paradise, Utah; and the sounds of southern rock, country, and rhythm n’ blues.
When Brad Parsons steps out on a stage, it’s not long before he overpowers a roaring crowd. With little but his voice and an acoustic guitar, Parsons channels raucous energy into original songs that are as hopeful as they are heart-wrenching. Parsons is an Atlanta-based singer-songwriter with folk-rock roots extending to Portland and Idaho.
